The primary facts- LOTR sequence has generally two kinds of movies- a) Theatrical and b) Prolonged, each version are available in both-DVD and Blu ray structure. Extended editions of the films have huge quantity of extra movie movie included to the theatrical editions (approx. 30, 40 and 50 extra moments for movie 1, 2 and 3 respectively). So, go for the extended editions only if you are a die difficult fan of the films. If you are not, the evaluation finishes here. Buy whatever movie you like in your recommended structure and appreciate. Thanks. FOR LOTR FANS- Let's get directly to-the-point. Now, many of you may as well own the DVD editions of LOTR (Either Theatrical or Prolonged ot both), and if you are trying to determine whether to invest your cash on this blu ray extended, here is the comparison- Extended DVD set- For each movie they have 4 disks (2 movie disks and 2 extra features); So complete 12 disks. Sound is DTS ES 6.1, which is considerably better than frequent dolby electronic. This set is probably the most stunning I have ever seen for any DVD. Vibrant and function loaded, it is unique in your whole selection. Extended Blu ray set- For each movie they have 5 disks (2 movie blu ray disks, 2 extra function DVDs and 1 behind the landscape DVD). So, complete 15 disks. Sound is backbone cooling DTS HD 6.1 and it has the all the betterments of blu ray (HD pic, HD sound, BD live). Also, blu ray set contains the Digital duplicate of the Prolonged Versions of all three films (Standard meaning, not HD). The set itself is a pleasure, with a resilient fantastic card board program that is resilient and wonderful. The remastering of these films have been managed fantastically and with regard to both image and sound, this one is SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER THAN THE DVD. The GOOD (Blu ray set over DVD set): 1. Video and Sound considerably enhanced. Fantastic blu ray exchange. I have not observed any 'darker' shades as described by some other audiences. 2. Blu ray set has THREE EXTRA DVDs (Behind the Scene for each movie) apart from the 2 extra function DVDs. 3. Blu ray set has Digital duplicates of Prolonged editions of all three films. 4. They did not invest a DVD for electronic duplicate. You obtain them directly from the hosting server. 5. Digital duplicates are fantastic downloading and a breeze. Together, it's almost 10 GB obtain, which was frustrating for me. The NOT-SO-GOOD: 1. Extra function DVDs (2 for each movie) are the SAME as those of DVD editions. Actually, the DVDs are similar when I do head-to-head evaluation. These DVDs are drawn directly from the mature DVD editions, nothing new included there. 2. The overall appearence of the set is not as wonderful as the DVD places. This one is fantastically loaded though, does not have the shades of the DVD set. 3. Extra function disks are DVDs and not Blu radiation. FINAL VERDICT- If you own the extended DVD set, then buy this only if you want to have an outstanding enhancement in pictutre and audio excellent. The only specs you get is 'behind the scenes' DVDs. All other extra function DVDs (total 6 of them) will be a replication of what you already own in Prolonged DVD set. Actually, I observed that all the extra function DVDs here are from the various mature DVD editions. The two DVDs are from the Prolonged DVD set, and the one 'behind the scene' is probably drawn from the restricted editions of LOTR (the dual on the sides DVDs that New Range Movies launched sometimes back). However, if you do not own the DVD editions, then this is a must buy as this contains almost everything that you can think of (HD films, specs, behind the curtain, plus electronic copies).
